Award

The winner will receive $2,500. A second winner may also be considered.

Rules and Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be between 15 and 20 years old and be graduating high school seniors from accredited high schools (including home-schooled, military, or boarding school students).
  2. Applicants must be accepted into an accredited college or university for the upcoming academic year.
  3. Parent/guardian must meet one of the following:
    • Full-time or volunteer member of a police, sheriff’s, or fire department
    • Veteran or currently active police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or EMT in the public sector
    Not eligible:
    • Administrative staff
    • Federal employees (e.g., DHS, FBI)
    • Reserve, part-time, retired, or deceased members
  4. All materials must be submitted by the deadline. Applications may be submitted first, followed by other documents.
  5. Applicants must agree to publicity requirements if selected as a winner.
  6. Scholarships must be used for tuition, books, fees, or educational needs.

Required Documents

  • Completed and signed application form
  • Typed essay (Microsoft Word or PDF): “What does it mean to me to have my parent/guardian involved in securing our community and nation and how significant is that in this day and age?”
  • Official transcripts (converted to a 4.0 scale or with conversion method)
  • Proof of college acceptance (letter or certificate)
  • Proof of parent’s qualifying occupation (ID or supervisory letter on letterhead)
  • Résumé (community service, awards, extracurriculars, work history, hobbies)
  • Verified community service form (signed with supervisor contact info)
  • Letter of recommendation (from teacher, counselor, or outside agency)
  • Optional: SAT/ACT scores (GPA will weigh more if scores are not submitted)

Scoring Breakdown

  • 25 Points: GPA + SAT/ACT scores (if submitted)
  • 40 Points: Essay
  • 20 Points: Verified community service
  • 15 Points: Academic awards, hobbies, school and extracurricular activities
